After an incredible day at Tarangire National Park, my family and I found a comfortable resting place at a motel in Mto wa Mbu, Arusha. This charming town is conveniently close to our next destination, Lake Manyara National Park. Let’s dive into our unforgettable experience!

Located not far from Lake Manyara, Mto wa Mbu offered us a warm welcome after our Tarangire adventure. We settled into a cozy motel, where the hospitality was exceptional. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the delicious buffet, offering a delightful array of local and international dishes. 

After dinner, my son had the chance to bond with his cousins, uncles and aunties creating cherished family memories.

Heading to Lake Manyara National Park:

The following morning, our journey to Lake Manyara National Park began early.

The next leg of our journey unfolded with the break of dawn as we departed Fanaka Hotel, conveniently located not far from Lake Manyara National Park .

 As we hit the road to the park, we meandered through the charming town of Mto wa Mbu, where the vibrant and Colorful Maasai clothes, fresh vegetables, and fruits graced the bustling stalls, while ever-watchful baboons playfully observed our passage from the roadside.

Wildlife Encounters:

Lake Manyara didn’t disappoint in terms of wildlife sightings. We spotted elephants up close, one big elephant was so welcoming it gave us a little royal escort , it was so majestic and beautiful  gathered by the riverbanks, leisurely feeding on fresh grasses and going about their day. 

The star of the show was the picturesque Lake Manyara itself, filled with pristine flowing water. Its alkaline waters attract flamingos and other waterfowl, creating a vibrant spectacle.

Buffalos grazed peacefully by the lake, and we were treated to a close encounter with a majestic elephant just two feet away from our safari vehicle.

 Inside the park, we discovered a hidden gem: a hot spring, a testament to the geothermal activity in the area. Baboons added a touch of playfulness as they roamed the treetops.

Maasai Culture Tour:

After our exciting safari in Lake Manyara, we decided to immerse ourselves in Maasai culture. SafariMojamatata organized a captivating Maasai culture tour for us, where we had the opportunity to learn about the traditions and customs of this fascinating tribe. The tour offered unique insights into the rich heritage of the Maasai people.
